Trauma Therapy

With empathy, understanding, and evidence-based practices, we walk alongside those who've experienced life's toughest moments. Allow us to support you as you find your way back to peace and resilience.

What Is Trauma?

We become traumatized when we experience a deeply distressing event (or series of events) that is too intense for the nervous system to handle. This leads to traumatic events being stored differently than other memories. The result is that trauma can affect us for a long time and can look like a tangled web of emotions, physical sensations, thoughts, images and reactions.

Symptoms of Trauma Include:

  • Insomnia

  • Flashbacks

  • Nightmares

  • Panic attacks

  • Negative beliefs about self

  • Physical sensations

  • Feeling unsafe

  • Unexplained nausea

  • Consistent headaches

  • Unpredictable emotions and reactions

  • Alcohol and substance abuse (self-medicating or numbing)

  • Inability to trust others or the world

Trauma can make us feel stuck, struggling to make sense of our experiences or move forward.

Together, with the support of our registered therapists, we can untangle those knots, and rewrite your story from one of survival to one of thriving. Let's take that first step together.

Keep in mind that when doing trauma work, patience with yourself is key; be kind to yourself through this process as it doesn’t always follow a linear path. This is brave, what you’re choosing to do, to face life’s hardest moments and work to move through them in pursuit of freedom from their impact on you.

Evidence-based modalities that we use to treat trauma:

Healing begins with understanding. In therapy, we guide you through the essential phases of trauma recovery, helping you restore a sense of safety, process the traumatic events, and eventually reconnect with both others and yourself. Our trauma-focused therapies prioritize your empowerment, ensuring that each session fosters a sense of collaboration, safety, choice, and trust.
